A regional general contractor was awarded a major healthcare campus expansion — a $48M project involving structural steel, mechanical systems, and occupied hospital adjacencies. The project required coordination across 12+ subcontractors with varying safety cultures, all while maintaining patient and public safety in an active hospital environment.

CSM embedded a full-time site safety manager from pre-construction through substantial completion. We implemented daily pre-task planning across all trades, conducted weekly toolbox talks in English and Spanish, developed a site-specific safety plan addressing occupied building protocols, and established a subcontractor safety qualification process that raised the bar for every crew on site.

A growing industrial services company was losing bids due to an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 1.38. Their insurance premiums were climbing, and several key clients had placed them on probationary status. Internal safety efforts were inconsistent, and frontline supervisors had limited safety training.

CSM conducted a comprehensive safety program audit and rebuilt their written programs from the ground up. We implemented a supervisor safety leadership course, established a near-miss reporting system, created standardized JHAs for their 15 most common tasks, and provided monthly safety consulting to management. We also represented them during an OSHA informal conference related to a prior citation.

A national distribution company operating a 400,000 sq. ft. facility with 200+ employees was experiencing an incident rate well above industry average. Forklift incidents, manual handling injuries, and slip/trip/falls accounted for 80% of all recordable injuries. Employee turnover was high, and new hires were disproportionately involved in incidents during their first 90 days.

CSM designed and delivered a comprehensive training program covering powered industrial truck operation, manual material handling and ergonomics, housekeeping standards, and new-employee safety orientation. We conducted the initial training sessions in English and Spanish, then trained internal personnel to sustain the program. We also redesigned pedestrian traffic flow patterns and implemented a behavioral observation program.
